A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store. Some are needed to make a page work. Others follow you from page to page and report what you did, which is what annoys people about cookie banners. Related tools, such as local storage in the browser, work in a similar way and are treated in the same way on this page.
This policy covers the Taunton Prestige Roofing website only. What happens to the details you send us is covered by our privacy policy.
At a glance
No analytics or tracking cookies
This website runs no analytics. It has no visitor counter, no advertising pixel, no heat map and no tool that records which pages you read or how long you stay. Because nothing of that kind is installed, the site sets no tracking cookies and there is no cookie banner asking you to switch anything off.
The page you are reading reaches your browser as plain content. Your visit leaves nothing behind on your device for the purpose of following you around the web.
The law
Why there is no consent banner
The rules on cookies sit in regulation 6 of the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations 2003. That regulation was substituted by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, and Schedule A1 lists the exceptions, which include cookies that are strictly necessary to provide a service you asked for. Consent is needed for cookies outside those exceptions.
A site that sets no tracking cookies has nothing to ask your consent for. If that ever changed, this page would be updated first and you would be asked before anything was set.
Maps and video
Embeds that load only when you click
The site can show a Google map of our business profile and a video player. Neither one loads when the page opens. You see a still placeholder with a button, and the third-party content is requested only after you press it.
Once you do press it, the provider's own servers deliver the content to your browser, and that provider may set cookies of its own under its own terms. You can read those in the provider's cookie and privacy policy. If you never press the button, the provider is never contacted from this page. Pressing it is a choice you make each time, and nothing is switched on in the background.
Search Console sets no cookies
The site is registered with Google Search Console, a free tool that tells the site owner whether Google can read the pages and whether any errors need fixing. Search Console reads information from Google's side. It sets no cookies on your device and puts no code on the pages you visit, and it shows us nothing about who you are or what you did on the site.
Your browser
Controlling cookies yourself
Every mainstream browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them and block them for particular sites. The settings menu usually has a section called privacy or site data. Blocking cookies from third-party content is a sensible default on any site. The embeds above will still work after you press their button, or show an error if the provider needs a cookie that you have blocked.
