Our policies

Privacy policy

This policy explains what we do with the details you give us when you ask about a roof. The site runs no analytics and sets no tracking cookies.

Who we are

Who is responsible for your data

Taunton Prestige Roofing, a roofing contractor working from Taunton in Somerset, decides what happens to the personal data described here, which makes us the controller under UK data protection law. We have no public premises. You can reach us at info@tauntonprestigeroofing.co.uk or on 01823 297042.

What we collect

The details you choose to send us

We collect only what you send when you ask about a job. That is normally your name, phone number, email address and the address of the roof, plus what you have noticed and any photos you share. The WhatsApp form on this site also lets you give a preferred visit date and time of day.

What do we learn from the survey?

When a roofer surveys your property, we take photos of the roof and note its condition. These belong with your enquiry and are used to explain the work to you and prepare your price.

This website takes no payment card details.

Why we use it

What we use your details for, and our legal basis

We use your details to reply to your enquiry, arrange a survey, prepare and send your quote and carry out the work if you accept it. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before a contract, and then performing that contract. We also keep records of work done, invoices and correspondence because the law expects it, and because we have a legitimate interest in being able to answer questions about a job afterwards.

Your details are used for marketing only if you ask for it, and they are never sold.

Cookies

No analytics and no tracking cookies

This website runs no analytics and sets no tracking cookies, so there is no cookie banner to dismiss. Google Search Console, which we use to see how the site appears in search results, sets no cookies on your device. The Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations, as amended by the Data (Use and Access) Act 2025, ask for consent only for storing or reading information on your device where no exception applies, and none of that takes place here. Our cookie policy has the detail.

Do any parts of the site contact other companies?

Two do, and only when you use them. The Google map on some pages loads after you click it, and Google may then set its own cookies. The map on the contact page requests tiles from OpenStreetMap, which receives your IP address for that purpose. WhatsApp is run by its own provider, and anything you send there is covered by its terms as well as this policy.

Who sees it

Who we share your details with

Your enquiry reaches us through the quote form, a customer record system that stores form entries on our behalf, our email provider, the telephone or WhatsApp. Those providers act as our processors and handle data only on our instructions. If we need a scaffolder or another specialist to price or carry out a job, we share the address and the work involved, and nothing more than they need. We pass data to public bodies or regulators only when the law requires it.

How long

How long we keep it

Enquiries that do not lead to a job are kept for a short period in case you come back, then deleted. Records of work carried out, quotes accepted and invoices are kept for as long as needed to deal with any question about the job and to meet tax and accounting rules. When a record is no longer needed we delete it.

Your rights

What you can ask us to do

UK data protection law gives you the right to see the data we hold about you, to have mistakes corrected, to ask for deletion, to restrict or object to our use of it and to ask for a copy in a portable form. Some of these rights apply only in certain situations. Email or phone us, and the reply will set out what we hold and what can be done.

What if you are unhappy with how we handled your data?

Tell us first. Under section 164A of the Data Protection Act 2018, we must acknowledge a data protection complaint within 30 days of receiving it, and we will also tell you what we find. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office, the UK data protection regulator, at any time. Our complaints procedure covers complaints about our work as well.

Changes

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page. Questions about it are welcome at info@tauntonprestigeroofing.co.uk, and the terms and conditions set out how we work with customers.
